Langley Federal Credit Union is currently hiring for a Full Time Fraud Prevention Analyst to work on-site from our City Center building, located in Newport News, VA.

Job Summary:

Focuses on fraud prevention through data-driven analytics by leveraging their extensive fraud, payment, and risk knowledge. Analyzes and identifies the potential of fraudulent activity through all attack vectors. Familiarizes themselves with the flow of funds in a financial institution and works with all stakeholders to ensure proper preventive measures are in place and operating effectively.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Interprets trend analytics based on a wide variety of data sources to assist in the development and execution of comprehensive fraud prevention processes and techniques to proactively detect and prevent fraudulent activities and reduce fraud exposure.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including legal, compliance, finance, digital banking, vendors, member experience, and more, to address fraud-related issues effectively.
  • Performs data-driven analysis to identify vulnerabilities and proactively determine potential issues or improvement areas to support all fraud prevention and mitigation efforts.
  • Diagnoses issues, recognizes known and emerging fraud and abuse patterns and develops compelling, data-driven recommendations.
  • Performs daily review of systems regarding consumer/commercial transaction activities and analyzes Internet banking data for irregular patterns.
  • Analyzes fraudulent activity through person-to-person (P2P) payment applications, contact centers, online banking, online account opening, ACH, wire, and loan fraud to enable the identification of configuration and process gaps.
  • Analyzes user behavior to identify fraudulent activity such as social engineering fraud, account takeover (ATO), and identity theft through stolen personally identifiable information (PII).
  • Understands the overall payments threat landscape, including fraud and money laundering typologies and methods employed by fraudsters.
  • Provides input and assists in the development and improvement of processes and procedures related to Fraud Prevention. Works with internal partners and external vendors to validate, tune, and improve fraud monitoring technologies.
  • Understands the internal and external systems and networks that interact with and drive authorization and fraud processes to ensure the impact of changes in any of these systems does not disrupt or harm fraud or authorization processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of experience/education required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in financial services, cybercrime, risk management, payments, fraud, and/or intelligence is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in fraud prevention with digital banking or equivalent is required.
